    06/03/2014 “Auction of the Century” In the course of the celebrations at the opening of the new Leica complex in the Leitz Park in Wetzlar, WestLicht, the world’s leading auction house for vintage cameras, will be holding a unique auction in collaboration with Leica Camera AG. Guests will be invited to bid on 100 rare treasures from all epochs of technical progress at Leica and 100 highlights from the world of Leica photography at the auction on 23 May 2014.
  2. 03/03/2014 Alternative finish: the LEICA X VARIO is now also available in silver Leica Camera AG, Solms, is now presenting a silver version of the Leica X Vario as an alternative finish for the digital compact camera ‘made in Germany’. The camera will be available from February 2014 with a silver body as an alternative to the discreet black of the standard model. In classic black or elegant silver, the Leica X Vario has the typical look and feel of a Leica – and sets standards in its class with its picture quality.
  3. 03/03/2014 New centennial edition: the Leica D-Lux 6 ‘Edition 100’ This year, Leica Camera AG is celebrating 100 years of Leica photography. In 1914, Oskar Barnack, employed at the Ernst-Leitz-Werke in Wetzlar and a pioneer of photography, constructed the very first Leica, the Leitz Camera. The construction of this ‘Ur-Leica’ marks the birth of convenient 35 mm Leica photography with vastly increased creative scope, affording the photographer countless new forms of expression. On the occasion of this special anniversary, the programme for 2014 will see not only numerous events (including the official opening of the new Leica factory in the Leitz Park in Wetzlar in May), but also a series of centennial editions.

Oskar Barnack made the Leitz Camera, the very first Leica, 100 years ago. And now, in 2014, Leica Camera AG is celebrating the centenary year of this occasion with numerous events, exhibitions and exciting new products. The slogan for this centennial celebration is ‘100 years of Leica photography’.

  7. 12/12/2013 Leica Camera AG and LFI present: the Me and My Leica X Photo Contest Leica Camera AG, Solms, and LFI Photographie GmbH are holding an exclusive photo contest for Leica X users. Under the motto ‘Me and My Leica X Photo Contest’, anyone who uses a Leica X Vario, X2 or X1 can submit their own, very personal, special moments captured with an X camera and have the chance to win one of a number of exciting prizes.
  8. 26/11/2013 Leica Camera AG takes over Sinar Photography AG, the Swiss manufacturer of view cameras On Monday, Leica Camera AG, Solms, finalised the takeover of Sinar Photography AG, Zurich, the Swiss manufacturer of view cameras.
  9. 25/11/2013 Leica M for (RED) This Saturday evening saw photography and auction history in the making at the famed Sotheby’s auction house in New York. The clearly most expensive digital camera the world has ever seen, a Leica M designed exclusively for the charity organisation ‘(RED)’, found a new owner for the record hammer price of 1.8 million US dollars.
