"Quelques Mots d'elles" Julien Mignot 01.08.2008 - 31.08.2008
Visitors and employees at the Leica factory in Solms are greeted with exhibitions in the foyer that change each month and deal with an extremely wide range of themes. The aim is to present the entire spectrum of artistic and journalistic work carried out with Leica cameras, as well as the company's own cultural projects.
Current exhibition „Quelques Mots d'elles" from Julien Mignot
Haute couture fashion shows provide the backdrop for beautiful dreams packed in the most exquisite materials just waiting to be presented to the public. Backstage, the atmosphere is tense, dominated by the colorful, glittering flurry of the models and their stylists, the designers and countless journalists. There's hardly room to move here, yet everything has to fit - in the literal sense of the word. From his position at the side of the catwalk, the photographer tries to be discreet. He works without flash, attempting to capture the private moments of the models in the whirl of vanities. For it is only in these brief moments, free of glitz and glamor, that we see the woman and not the mannequin.
The photographs were taken with a Leica M6 TTL and a Leica Summicron-M f/2/35 mm ASPH. and with an M4-P and a Leica Summicron-M f/2/50mm. For the more recent shots, Mignot used a Leica M8 with the Leica Elmarit-M f/2.8/28 mm ASPH.
